At the time grub is installed after the " base " packages which will always fail on my Laptop with a error like : "/boot/grub/device.map no such file ..." on tty 4. The evil thing on that is the installer will install always as usual and reboot, without telling the user " hey! dont do it grub isnt really installed"( you can just see the error switching to tty 4 ).I solved the issue on my Laptop installing grub manually after the installtion was done, also befor the reboot screen switched to some tty chroot /mnt/target then sbin/grubconfig and exit, then reboot :). I've tested it with ext3 / ext2 / freiserfs filesystems and I can reproduce this with all 3. I think it will be good to move grub-install at the end of the install ( debian/ubuntu/suse/ like ) or you need to check that like : if grub install fails then warn the user and tell him to install it manually with an help text on how to do so or let him install it manually on an new window like : something was wrong with the gub installation please insert the patition manually (eg : /dev/hda) Just as info FrugalWare is the only distro I installed on my Laptop with a such issue. so it must be an bug :) URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/?do=details&do=details&id=91 From bozo at dev.null Mon Sep 26 09:30:05 2005 From: bozo at dev.null (Frugalware Bug Tracking System) Date: Mon Sep 26 09:30:09 2005 Subject: [Frugalware-bugs] req for new pkg: Gourmet Recipe Manager Message-ID: <20050926073006.4C3575B855A@genesis.frugalware.org> Python (plus some depends) app, available on http://grecipe-manager.sourceforge.net/ URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/?do=details&do=details&id=92 From bozo at dev.null Mon Sep 26 10:40:06 2005 From: bozo at dev.null (Frugalware Bug Tracking System) Date: Mon Sep 26 10:40:09 2005 Subject: [Frugalware-bugs] Remove the Change to next CD message after the installation is done Message-ID: <20050926084006.14BBF5B855B@genesis.frugalware.org> After the installation is done you have still the message to clean up or insert the next CD.(huch ?).. You will just see an blue screen and that is.. After installing an old fontconfig pkg the issue was gone so I recompiled 2.3.90 without the default config but with the patch, without both , whithout patch and is still broken. The stable fontconfig version also 2.3.2 will work without the defaulf conf changes vmiklos made.. I've noticed as well there is NO /etc/fonts/local.conf which will be deleted from the fontconfig.install script if is there, imo that isnt really good the local.conf is there to allow local changes to the fonts ( like anti-aliasing and such ).If you dont want that user change something then you need a default config works for all driver,LCDs and such which is a bit hard to do. Message-ID: <20050930193008.31A415B8552@genesis.frugalware.org> ATI fglrx fully installs and appears to work, but glxgears gives a very low framerate! Further more, fireglcontrolpanel does not work. Installing libstdc++5 fixes both of these problems. Should it therefore be a dependency of fglrx? It sits there saying it's "updating..." for ever and never tells me the weather! :( I need to know... is it raining outside? How else can i check? ;P URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/?do=details&do=details&id=105
