That means, you as user or developer can download it for free! LMMS aims to be a free alternative to popular (but commercial and closed- source) programs like FruityLoops, Cubase and Logic giving you the ability of producing music with your computer by creating cool loops, synthesizing and mixing sounds, arranging samples, having more fun with your MIDI-keyboard and much more... LMMS combines the features of a tracker-/sequencer-program (pattern-/channel-/ sample-/song-/effect-management) and those of powerful synthesizers and samplers in a modern, user-friendly and easy to use graphical user-interface. What can I do with LMMS? Using LMMS you can produce electronic music with your computer, so you don't have to buy expensive hardware for having great sounds and making cool music. Of course no software can replace real hardware-synths, but you'll have still much fun with LMMS and especially users being new to music-production at all will learn things in a really easy way! LMMS provides software-synths and other plugins, cool presets for them and also some essential samples. For getting started with LMMS you can take a look at the demo-projects. source:http://nchc.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/lmms/lmms-0.1.4.tar.bz2 URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/?do=details&do=details&id=690 From bozo at dev.null Mon May 1 06:30:03 2006 From: bozo at dev.null (Frugalware Bug Tracking System) Date: Mon May 1 06:30:07 2006 Subject: [Frugalware-bugs] [FB] pingus Message-ID: <20060501043004.3F713FB4004@genesis.frugalware.org> Pingus is a free Lemmings clone for GNU/Linux and Windows covered under the GNU GPL. I've contacted the author and he said this is a distro specific problem (he has reports about success from debian, ubuntu and some other distros so far). Namely, -according to his explanation- the icons under /usr/share/icons/gnome/* should be under /usr/share/icons/hicolor/*. To reinforce his point of view, he cited the following freedesktop document: http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html I have no wide knowledge of GUI standards but the icon's placements look a bit weird: some icons under hicolor/AxB/somedir and some are under gnome, in both places there are gnome-specific icons too. May the solution is putting everything under /hicolor and changing /gnome to a symlink pointing to whatever, ex. "hicolor"? Now I replaced usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0 to usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=23,devmode=664 0 0 in /etc/fstab, and now it is owned by the camera group, and everything is o.k. I am not sure how to put all the dependencies in the build file though - the linuxdcpp README mentions: Gtk+ 2.6 libglade 2.4 libgnome (Required by libglade on some systems it seems) pthread zlib libbz2 scons g++ >= 3.4 (Yes, this is REQUIRED for succesfull compilation!) The QEMU Accelerator Module increases the speed of QEMU when a PC is emulated on a PC. It runs most of the target application code directly on the host processor to achieve near native performance. It is very useful when you want to run another Operating System (for example Windows) on a Linux desktop. With the QEMU Accelerator Module, QEMU can be compared to other commercial or free PC Virtualizers. It has the advantage of being free and to achieve good performances while necessitating no specific guest Operating System modifications. No other product has such advantages. http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/qemu-accel.html http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/kqemu-doc.html URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/?do=details&do=details&id=723 From bozo at dev.null Sun May 7 04:30:03 2006 From: bozo at dev.null (Frugalware Bug Tracking System) Date: Sun May 7 04:30:07 2006 Subject: [Frugalware-bugs] dictd - dictionary server for local dictionaries Message-ID: <20060507023004.28BD6FB4004@genesis.frugalware.org> Dictionary Server ------------------ dictd is a TCP based server that allows a client to access dictionary definitions from a set of natural language dictionary databases. 'Save As' dialog behaviour Message-ID: <20060520131004.27307FB4011@genesis.frugalware.org> Firefox (all versions afaik) Choose a random file > Right-click 'Save target/image as' Save it with the original file name. Try to save it again: DIALOG1 - The usual GTK file dialog pops up with filename, path etc. Click 'Save'. DIALOG2 - 'File already exists. Overwrite?' Choose 'No'. Both DIALOG1 and DIALOG2 disappear. I would like DIALOG1 to stay there and give me the option to change the file name if I choose No in DIALOG2. Maybe it is rather a GTK related problem, but it annoys me the most in Firefox. The problem does not appear, for example, in the GIMP, it seems to use different dialogs and if I choose 'Cancel' in a similar situation, it drops me back to the previous dialog with the filename (as desired). 'Save As' dialog behaviour Message-ID: <20060530194014.DDE59FB4016@genesis.frugalware.org> Firefox (all versions afaik) Choose a random file > Right-click 'Save target/image as' Save it with the original file name. At the boot moment its status is [OK] (also for HAL daemon) but in truth it doesn't work. Also when I want to start "gnome-volume-manager", this software gives to me (from terminal): -- gnome-volume-manager: error while loading shared libraries: libdbus-glib-1.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory -- Perhaps these problems are linked? I reported to the ies4linux owner: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/forum/viewtopic.php?t=116 but it seems that wine 0.9.14 is working fine with ubuntu. You can use ies4linux for quick look at true type fonts with internet explorer using wine: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/index-en.html download: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-2.0beta6.tar.gz not just ies4linux, but installing microsoft office 2000, also has the font problem. that the "true type fonts" are not detected by wine 0.9.14. running winword.exe shows all garbled up fonts. I would downgrade, but wine 0.9.13 doesn't install ms-office 2000. thanks.
