When X is running, sometimes one of the keys gets stuck and starts to flood the shell I'm working in and the keyboard becomes unresponsive (no VT switch, nothing). When I'm lucky, I can use the mouse to quit the window manager from its menu, but sometimes even mouse buttons fail to work. In such cases, I must power the machine off. It all began to appear in the last few weeks, but strangely, some sessions are free from the error. Last night I was up for hours without hitting the bug, but today I had to restart X at least ten times. At the time of these problems, nothing was recorded in neither the system nor the Xorg logs, and I had nothing else running except Firefox. I have never encountered the problem from the console. --- Software: -current (1.2pre1), openbox, pypanel, mrxvt, firefox, cpuspeed. I have a very minimal system, most of the rc scripts are slightly modified. I prefer disabling the framebuffer. Hardware: IBM ThinkPad x61s, c2d 1.6GHz, SSD drive, 2GB RAM, Intel 4965AGN wireless, unnecessary devices disabled/blacklisted. What didn't help: - enabling the framebuffer - using the Xorg 'vesa' driver instead of 'intel' - turning off gpm What seems to help: - using kernel 2.6.30-fw3 (from 1.1) I had i686 on this system which was re-installed from bare metal with x86_64, and both archs had/have this problem. I will test upcoming versions of xorg-server/xf86-video-intel/kernel etc. and report how they work. I checked WeeChat's FrugalBuild and found that it was working as expected, but the result was wrong in reality. The problem is that the WeeChat project have established a new web site dedicated to WeeChat - www.weechat.com - and no longer maintain the old web site, refered to in the FrugalBuild. Can someone please update the FrugalBuild to match the new web site? If no-one does this before me I'll try to do it but there may be technical reasons why I cannot. Here is part of an email message received from one of the WeeChat development team when I asked about the (old) download page - "The link http://www.weechat.org/download.php has never existed, I don't know how you got that. New WeeChat site is not written in PHP. Download page is: http://www.weechat.org/download Site flashtux.org is old site for weechat and download center is obsolete, you should not use it any more ;) I'll probably remove download center soon." I have put this bug report in the Network categroy because WeeChat's FrugalBuild lists its group as "network-extra".
