Naturally, the installer will in it's evil way let you happily invest a lot of time into carefully selecting your packages, only to end with a message box that says something along the lines of "Error occured: Segmentation fault", you press OK only to have the screen flicker and the box appears again. Trying to kill setup results in the screen flickering and the box popping up again. I set severity to "high" even though the installer is still usable without advanced mode, but I feel that the advanced mode is such an important part for more experienced users looking to streamline an install. A new Flyspray task has been opened. Details are below. User who did this - Peter Szabo (pete) Attached to Project - Frugalware Summary - mplayer mkv audio crash Task Type - Bug Report Category - Multimedia Status - Unconfirmed Assigned To - Operating System - i686 Severity - Low Priority - Normal Reported Version - 1.1 Due in Version - Undecided Due Date - Undecided Details - Mplayer crashes when playing .mkv file with two 5.1 audio, one video and a subtitle track [mkv] Track ID 1: video (V_MS/VFW/FOURCC) "video-title", -vid 0 [mkv] Track ID 2: audio (A_AAC/MPEG2/LC/SBR) "Dolby 5.1 Japanese", -aid 0, -alang jpn [mkv] Track ID 3: audio (A_AAC/MPEG2/LC/SBR) "Dolby 5.1 English", -aid 1, -alang eng [mkv] Track ID 4: subtitles (S_TEXT/ASS), -sid 0, -slang eng The sound was to be remixed to stereo 2ch by mplayer. Workaround: download mplayer for 1.0, mplayer-1.0rc2-10-i686.fpm Upon start, mplayer will complain for a missing lib, so make a symlink in /usr/lib libopenal.so.0 -> libopenal.so.1.7.411 The mplayer from 1.0 plays perfectly. The defect maybe related to audio format, other movies are played well with the mplayer in 1.1, no codec/lib downgrade was necessary More information can be found at the following URL: http://bugs.frugalware.org/task/3971 You are receiving this message because you have requested it from the Flyspray bugtracking system. User who did this - Pawel Szubert (szubi) Attached to Project - Frugalware Summary - Segmentation fault in installer Task Type - Bug Report Category - Installer Status - Unconfirmed Assigned To - Operating System - i686 Severity - Medium Priority - Normal Reported Version - 1.1 Due in Version - Undecided Due Date - Undecided Details - When - for some reasons - you decide to interrupt the installer (in my case it was netinstall) and then start it again (restart the computer) using partitioning from previous install WITHOUT formatting (I wanted to use previously downloaded packages in /mnt/target/var/cache/pacman-g2/pkg - slow net connection) the installer crashes with segfault after choosing packages. I repeated it twice or three times, doesn't matter if choosing exactly the same packages or changing my prev choice. The message was "transaction already started" or something like that - sorry, haven't written it down - it was very late and I was in a hurry to finish my work. Seems like pacman-g2 found a lock in /var/run and could not deal with it.
