(see for example https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python2.7/+bug/755616 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3.2/+bug/789732) It can easily be confirmed using the following command: ldd /usr/lib/python3.*/lib-dynload/_curses.so|grep curses This should return libncursesw.so.5 => /lib/libncursesw.so.5 This issue breaks unicode in all python3+ncurses applications. When I boot and log in, "ifconfig -a" reports two network interfaces: wlan0 and lo. The attributes of interface "wlan0" look just as they would for an Ethernet port but if I try plugging in a network cable and enter the command "dhcpcd wlan0" no IP address is obtained. The port physically looks as it should when the cable plugged in, with the green status LED on and the orange activity LED flickering. 1.5 pre 2 is running 2.6.33-fw1 kernel. As a test, I have booted to a SalixOS (Slackware derivative) live USB key and "ifconfig -a" reports network interfaces eth1 and lo. SalixOS is using 2.6.33.4-smp kernel. I have never seen such behaviour and am not sure what to do. I don't know for certain if it's a bug but thought I'd report it anyway so that it's visible.
