That usually is the same list as the packages installed using repoman (but not necessarily). If you just want to update packages which are outdated and were installed using repoman merge, you probably want to use repoman upgrade. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... "After all," he said, "she is my daughter, and I can still look after her. If she will do wrong, why she will. But there are many different paths, there are degrees. I can give her the benefit--give her the benefit"--and M. Nioche paused, staring vaguely at Newman, who began to suspect that his brain had softened--"the benefit of my experience," M. Nioche added. "Your mother never drank!" "No; the saints preserve us!" She looked up in surprise at Larry's startled face. "It was my father. I don't remember only what mother told me; he left her one night, ravin' drunk, an' never come back." Larry hastily took up his cap. "I must be goin' back to the ship now," he said abruptly. "An' thank you, Mary, for the tea." He hurried from the room. When Larry reached the ground floor he heard Mary's door open again. "Can I be troublin' you, Mouse, to take something to Dan?" She came down the stairs, carrying a dinner-pail. "I'd thought to be eatin' this supper along with him," Mary said, disappointment in her tone. She followed Larry to the outer landing. "It's the true word you was sayin', he'll be makin' Dan water-tender?" Larry forced himself to look into her anxious eyes. "Sure; it's just as I said, Mary." "Then I'll pray this night to the Mother of God for that chief; for soon"--Mary hesitated; a light came to her face that lifted the girl high above her squalid surroundings--"the extra pay'll be comin' handy soon," she ended, her voice as soft as a Killarney breeze. Larry, as he looked at the young wife standing between the scarred columns of the old doorway, was stirred to the farthest corner of his heart. "They only smile like that to the angels," he thought. Then aloud: "Bad cess to me! I was forgettin' entirely! Dan said to leave this with you." He pushed crumpled, coal-soiled money into her hand, and fled down the steps. When Larry heard the door close creakily behind him, he looked back to where Mary had stood, his eyes blinking rapidly. After some moments he walked slowly on toward the wharves. I admire what ROX achieved but given the general lack of activity on the apps which make up the ROX environment, I don't think they need to remain. I agree with your idea of leaving rox-filer because it may still be useful to people who run a desktop that is light on resource usage. I suggest redoing the installation and don't install the Desktop Environment groups you aren't going to use. So, only check one of xfce, kde, or gnome. 2) There are 2 ways to fix the Frugalware password issue. Reinstall Frugalware and specify it when asked or mount the root partition, chroot into it, and change it manually. 3) Windows XP should still be on its partition if you didn't remove it. This requires merely modifying GRUB so it will have it in the menu. To my knowledge, Frugalware doesn't automatically do this for Windows, unlike say, Ubuntu. I usually start playing media and find that there is no sound. OK - I usually keep the sound card muted, so I click on the GNOME panel's volume control and unmute it, then adjust the slider to about the level I have often used. There is still no sound, so I start the PulseAudio volume manager (IIRC), click on the Output Devices tab and unmute the output device. That often restores sound but often it doesn't. If I quit from the media player - usually GNOME's default media player, Totem - start it again and replay the media, sound is usually then OK. My question is simple - how the heck do I reliably unmute my sound card, just as I used to do before PulseAudio was introduced? As is quoted in the very last entry of this forum, and I am quoting here - "Under the configuration tab I needed to change the profile for my sound card from Analog Stereo Duplex to Digital Stereo Duplex." With this change made, when I mute audio via the GNOME volume manager panel applet, the muting is also acknowledged in Pulse Audio's volume manager. Even better, when I *unmute* audio with the panel applet, Pulse Audio acknowledges the unmute and sound is restored. According to others who I have heard complaining about PulseAudio, this may be just the start of my adventure. For the moment though I have all the functionality I previously had and so I am content. http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=670339
