I'm looking OS which is response and is booting fast but the most important is that the distro should be cycle-release cause I will install it on offline machine. This is important because in future probably i will want to install some more packages and I don't want to upgrade whole system. So if u will be so nice and tell me: 1) How fast is boot of frugalware just after installation? (no compiling kernel no changing inittab etc.)Can u compare it to Arch or new Ubuntu 10.04? 2)I have read that new stable version of frugal appear every 6 months. I want to know if i install version 1.2 the repositories for this ver. will be still alive when new ver. appear or i will have to upgrade to new one. 3)Are grub2 & gdm-legancy (gdm-old) in repo? 4)Is default kernel of frugalware support boot-splash ? 5) Is LXDE on 1st dvd or i should also download 2nd? i hope understood all of this i'm not a native English speaker. When 1.3 is released, just follow the UPGRADE guide in docs to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 correctly. Quote: > 3)Are grub2 & gdm-legancy (gdm-old) in repo? No we use Grub2 and the last stable version of GDM. Quote: > 4)Is default kernel of frugalware support boot-splash ? We use splashy. Quote: > 5) Is LXDE on 1st dvd or i should also download 2nd? I don't know check .iso.ls-Ral files next to iso files, in theses files, you can see all packages contained by the related iso image.
