Unfortunatelly KMS support is broken at the moment for radeon cards. I've tested it with ATI HD 4350 (r710 chipset) and ATI X1550 (r500 chipset) and X-server freeze without warning. The solution of this trouble is disabling KMS before system starting. In file /boot/grub/menu.lst in line "kernel" I added following: nomodeset (you can use radeon.modeset=0 too, or both :) ). title Frugalware 1.2pre1.1357.g0ea362b (Locris) - 2.6.32-fw2 kernel (hd0,8)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda9 ro quiet nomodeset radeon.modeset=0 This is temporarily solution of this problem. I am not sure about Intel cards, maybe KMS works for now. The problem with inserting CD is solved - I had a line for a CD in in /etc/fstab (for some historical reasons ;) ). After removing that line inserting a CD or a DVD works fine - an icon shows on a desktop, I can mount and umount it.
