I successfully got everything working again by reinstalling what was then the 'current' versions of sysvinit and removing the systemd packages. Now that the systemd WIP repo has been merged into current my laptop again can't boot. The kernel starts OK but I then get error messages which are something like the following: INIT: Could not execute "/etc/rc.d/rc.4" INIT: Could not execute "/etc/rc.d/rc.6" I know what these scripts are but I don't know why installing the sysvinit-2.88 package creates this problem. Of course I *may have* damaged my Frugalware installation with my earlier systemd WIP repo installation. Can anyone suggest what I might do to fix this? I'm going to try a reinstallation of the groups 'core' and 'base' since I'm guessing that any damage I did was probably to files in packages belonging to these groups.
