Subject: [Frugalware-users] How do I (re)install graphical GRUB?

When I installed Frugalware onto a HP netbook I started with a Ubuntu
installation (please don't ask why :( ). Once I had Frugalware working
I then reinstalled GRUB and expected that the graphical GRUB would be
installed. Instead I have a non-graphical GRUB and I'm wondering how I
can instead install the graphical GRUB.

Hi,

There is no graphical or non graphical GRUB. However, grub can have
theme. If I understood correctly, this is what you wanted. You can set
it up by editing /boot/grub/menu.lst. In frugalware the theme is
called message and is in the same directory as menu.lst. So ass this
line to menu.lst:

gfxmenu (hdx,y)/boot/grub/message

where (hdx,y) is the partition containing the boot directory. If you
have a separate partition for boot directory, you have to leave
'/boot' form the option above.

I had no luck with the DVD version downloaded directly, either, but the USB version did install correctly.

I used unetbootin (running on a Windows vista machine) to load it to the USB flash drive
